Blogging from A to Z with The Private School Mom : B is for Bad Words

private school mom screaming bad words, wearing a red shirt and devils horns on her head.I have a secret! I sing along to songs that have the “parental advisory” label. Of course, I would never listen to these explicit lyric songs with in front of my children. These songs are only listened to while doing housework, alone in the house, airpods in, secretly, screaming explicit lyrics at the top of my lungs.

It’s cathartic

As a mom and role model, I am not allowed vices.

  1. No day drinking due to driving carpool.
  2. No smoking due to second-hand smoke.
  3. No staying awake all night, those kids need a hot breakfast before school.
  4. No sleeping in late on the weekends due to sports.
  5. Exercise is too much work and wine gives me a headache.

I do love naps

But there isn’t time for naps when laundry needs to get laundered and food needs to be cooked. Believe me, I need a vice. Sure, my life may be perfect, but I can’t be perfect all of the time.

It’s OK to make mistakes

I’m not the only one that thinks music relieves stress. According to Psych Central, they say that music is known to distract, keep your mind from wandering and increase productivity. They use the example of slow, quiet, classical music. We all know that the people writing this article, like myself, relax to the dirty south rap music with explicit lyrics. Since classical music refrains from using potty mouth words, the authors of the above article need to write puritanical articles for their boss, just like I need to act puritanical in front of the other private school moms. I go as far as renaming my Birdman songs as Bach, my 2chainz songs as Tchaikovsky and Lil Wayne as Ludwig Van Beethoven. It’s our little secret.

Beautiful girls have beautiful names

The words that come out of my mouth are supposed to be kind. Because being so bad (when absolutely no one is around), feels so good. I sing about being trapped. These rapping songbirds are trapped in the hood. I am just as trapped in my million dollar mansion or as I like to call it, my golden cage. Beneath my cathedral ceiling, wiping down the granite countertop, I sing about Molly, Keisha, Mary Jane, Crystal and Kitty. I’m not sure if they are the names of girls or drugs. I would like to think these are names of their friends and sisters that they love and treat with the upmost respect.

Positive influences

My daughter has a friend named Molly from private school. Molly is a nice girl from a respectable family. These girls also seem nice.  The boy rappers must have a lot of friends that are girls. These girls make the singers feel happy and just high on life. They are obviously positive influences. More importantly, I wonder if their moms make them a hot nutritious breakfast every morning before they go to school. I’d like to think that their moms and I have a lot in common. We also have our differences, the moms do not use inappropriate language, like me.

What songs do you love?

What songs relieve your stress? Please leave your song in the comments. A future post may include a thank you link to your social media. In the worst case scenario, I will add it to my personal playlist and rock out with my socks out.

  1. I love a lot of songs. Burn It Down — Linkin Park and Bad Girlfriend – Theory of a Deadman get me pumped. The Ghost Inside by the Broken Bells, HUMBLE. Kendrick Lamar. I Am Machine by Three Days Grace. Motel by Meg Myers. Lash Out — Alice Merton. Rx — another Theory of a Deadman song. Tornado — Little Big Town. No Limit — G Eazy. When the Sh– Goes Down — Cypress Hill. Willy Wonka — Macklemore. Okay. I’m done for now. A lot of those songs don’t feature the girls you mentioned though.

    • I love this song! I taught myself how to twerk from watching the Twerk Team dance to this song. I was going to put an instruction video on YouTube, but my family said I couldn’t. You know, something about “being proper,” “your kids will see this one day,” and “please don’t post anything about yourself online.”

    • Yaaas!!! I love this song! It’s going back on my playlist for when I’m breaking down all the Amazon boxes that show up on my front doorstep. My kids swear while playing fortnite. They think I don’t know.
